1. General

Why have moose moved into the farmland region?

2. Ecology

Are predators a big influence on moose population in the farmland area?
- Trail cameras, community consultation – what predators are present? Any sign of kills, stalking, other interactions?
How important are wetlands for moose? Do they spend a lot of time in this habitat? Are they feeding? Cooling off in the water? Hiding from predators?

What are moose eating in this area? Are they using crops as a significant food source?
- Consulting community members, vegetation ID of available food sources

3. Behavior

Are moose in the area making large movements, or staying in one area that fills their needs?
- Can we ID individual moose on cameras or with sightings? Are we seeing the same moose or different moose?
Are moose interacting with each other, or remaining more solitary?
- Trail cameras – any signs of interaction? Are many moose using the same area?
How do moose respond to hunting pressure?

4. Reproduction

Do most female moose seen in the summer have at least one calf? Are there any twins? Triplets?

5. Habitat

What habitats in the farmland region are important to moose? Do they like wetlands near crops or other areas? Do they need a lot of tree cover?

Are moose in your area at risk for highway/road collisions?
